Opening Weekend of Boating at Jarrell's Cove State Park
Opening Day for the Shelton Yacht Club took place at Jarrell Cove State Marine Park with a weekend of great weather...
Jim & Jane drove in.... Dan and Christy towed their rig in for the weekend.... And Per and Sheryl drove their motorhome in to join the festivities...
The docks begins to fill... Dick and Linda arrive on Time Out...
Carol and Tony visit with Gwen and Mike on Duffy... Mike and Larae arrive on Highlander...
Clearly the place is going to the dogs!
Prospective Members Sam and Soitza arrive on Josephine... We're here! Noreen and Jane visit on the dock.....
Ultimately 16 boats tie up and good ol' SYC camaraderie is shared on the dock....
Members challenge each other in games of horseshoes...
Jim and Rick are judges and scorekeepers....
Commodore Ken christens Mike and Larae's Highlander....
The Commodore proclaims," TO THE SEA"... But the bottle doesn't break....
Again the Commodore says, "TO THE SEA !!" and the bottle doesn't break....
"Dammit!".... I said, "TO THE SEA!" And the bottle still won't break. Maybe we need a stronger Commodore....
FINALLY! The Commodore uses his ingenuity and hits the bottle on a cleat and Neptune gets his share of the champagne...
The christening is complete... And I'll bet Mike and Laura are relieved their boat won't receive any more beatings!
Debbie knits while enjoying the sun... Fleet Captain Jan and her husband Ken put on an outstanding event for the Club.. SYC had a terrific weekend!
