Ceremony and 65th Anniversary Celebrations
"Last weekend we kicked off the 2021 Boating Season. Friday evening chili dogs, chips and snacks. Saturday morning at 10:00am we honored the passing of past Commodore Bob before proceeding on to our Opening Day ceremony which included the Bridge and Fleet Captain Sue, the Blessing was given by Kurt, Cate sang the National Anthem and the Boy Scouts presented and raised the flags. Mark then fired the cannon and Linda introduced a SYC history presentation followed by a poem written by Jim.
After the ceremony we recognized twenty-one of our Past Commodores. We then adjourned to the club house for cake and champagne for our 65th anniversary and a toast given by Past Commodore Larry.
There we 14 boats that participated in the Commodores Fleet Review. Past Commodore Larry joined me on the bow of Boundary Point to return salutes from the passing fleet.
Our cruise destination to Outstation/Breakwater was well attended for an afternoon of fun and an epic BBQ hosted by Chef Randy and Debbie. Four vessels spent the night on the breakwater.
Sunday morning several of us (40) met at the 40&8 for breakfast.
All in all, it was a pretty fun weekend.
I would especially like to thank; George, Ty, Trevor and Dick for the work they did to make the Breakwater usable for us. They did an outstanding job and it’s a great addition to the club."
